SYNOPSIS:

DR. JOHN DANTRY (46) is a brilliant heart surgeon with a god complex. Revered in the operating room but cold at the bedside, John long ago abandoned the Christian faith he was raised in—now believing only in science, reason, and his own infallibility.

When he mocks an elderly patient’s near-death experience as “heavenly hallucination,” his life begins to unravel.

Within days, his devout mother dies of cancer, her final plea for John’s salvation unanswered. At her funeral, he has a bitter public clash with PASTOR DAVID HELTON (45), darkening an already painful farewell. Then, tragedy strikes again—John and his girlfriend DEANNA (36) are in a devastating car accident. Deanna is killed. John’s body is shattered. His gifted hands may never operate again.

While recovering in the hospital, Pastor Helton arrives with the news of Deanna’s passing. Overwhelmed with rage and disbelief, John suffers a massive heart attack—and plunges into hell.

Awakening in a scorched, labyrinthine underworld, John first believes it’s all a vivid hallucination. But the horror is too precise, too visceral. Here, massive demons descend like vultures on the eternally damned, drawn by their ceaseless screams. Bodies writhe in torment. The air itself tastes of ash and despair.

Oddly, though the demons see and hear him, the other souls do not—except for one: CYNTHIA BRODY (30s), another recent arrival. A once-devout woman who drifted from her faith, Cynthia has no doubts where she is. Unlike the rest, she believes John’s presence is different—that he may still be alive, experiencing a supernatural near-death state. And in that sliver of hope, she sees a chance: if John can return, maybe he can warn her unbelieving husband and children before they suffer her fate.

Together, John and Cynthia navigate the horrors of hell—ambushed by demons, witnessing the eternal fates of tyrants, murderers, and the seemingly mundane damned. Cynthia’s growing visibility among the lost signals her spiritual sentence is sealed. But John still flickers like a candle in limbo.

When John confronts visions of his past—his distant, judgmental father and the soul of Deanna—he begins to unravel. The arrogance that once defined him begins to burn away. Then, in a final confrontation with a presence of divine authority, John is offered a choice: redemption or ruin.

He awakens in his hospital bed—changed, shaken, and alive.

Transformed by his ordeal, John devotes himself to repairing the damage he caused in life. He seeks reconciliation with Pastor Helton, rededicates his surgical talents to serving the underserved, and most urgently, honors Cynthia’s final request: warn her family before it’s too late.
