Screenplays

Having achieved a satisfying level of success writing advertising and marketing copy during my ‘first career’, I turned away from the corporate world in 2006 to try my hand at screenwriting. I’ve since compiled a broad portfolio of feature-length screenplays, short film scripts, webisodes and teleplays. Basically sucking at self-promotion, I sought validity through script coverage services and screenplay contests. My entries into major competitions garnered over 50 top awards; and two of my produced award-winning short scripts went on to become popular selections on the film festival circuit in both the US and Europe.

A Room to Yourself

When it comes to writing for TV, I always thought I’d have more fun writing jokes for Jay Leno’s monologues than writing scripts to TV shows. I never really pursued small screen writing assignments and I never wrote any spec scripts until one day, opportunity knocked. I was asked to get involved in the development and production of an outdoor “how to” hunting and fishing show. One thing lead to another and the concept for “A Fish out of Water” was born. I found myself pumping out a script for a 1-hour pilot, organizing a casting call and preparing for initial production...which has yet to happen. Anyway, I believe the concept is solid and, hopefully, “A Fish out of Water” will some day reach your television set.

A second project that came along unsolicited was “The Ritz Brotherhood”. This, too, became a 1-hour pilot script which currently has the producer who conceived the show looking for funding.

In any event, both projects were unique and fun to write and have me giving serious consideration to pursuing additional TV writing opportunities.
